Wire basket sand scoops allow maximum drainage.  This allows dry and wet sand to flow through the openings most efficiently.  Although wire scoops are not as rugged as many other types of sand scoops, they are great for areas with thick sand that does not flow well in the other scoops.

Wire scoops are often considered "pull" style scoops versus "step" style sand scoops.  You will want to avoid putting too much pressure with your foot as you use these scoops to ensure longevity.
